Mass Innovation Nights #106 brought 10 companies to the UMass Lowell Innovation Hub in Haverhill, MA — a big thank you to them for hosting us in their great new space! Despite having to postpone the event by a day because of the snow, both turnout and spirits were high. The event was sponsored by the The Merrimack Valley Planning Commission and the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce.
Veggie Table Foods' Cauliflower Crust Pizza and yuso Japanese-inspired nori and rice snacks kept everyone full, outskert from nohmii showcased their functional and warm clothing, and Cede's Combat Farming game allowed us to momentarily step into a vibrant, post-apocalyptic world. Josh Walker from 1620 Workwear had great things to say about manufacturing his company's innovative, functional men's clothing in Haverhill, highlighting the active support for small businesses that his company has received from the Chamber of Commerce as well as local business and community leaders. These companies were only a few of the ten groundbreaking companies that showcased their products.
Steven Tello, Vice Provost for Innovation, kicked off the night. Because of the change of date, Angela Cleveland of the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission, and Paul Magliocchetti stood in for experts Karen Sawyer Conard, the Executive Director of the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission, and Beverly J. Donovan, the President and CEO of the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce. Tom O'Donnell, the Senior Director of Innovation Initiatives at UMass Lowell and Director of UMass Lowell's Innovation Hubs in Lowell and Haverhill, was also an expert of the night.
