Presentation Summary: Listen as Dana explains the courage she witnessed while working with law enforcement on investigations and prosecutions of atrocious child offenses that have been memorialized in pictures and videos. Hear Dana talk as she compares sexting with child pornography, explores the mindset of the “typical” child pornography collector, and explains why these “digital” offenses are so human in nature, and seem to be growing at such an astronomical rate. Hear Dana reflect on her experiences as a woman in a male-dominated field, and, finally, return home with a whole new perspective on why the trade of child pornography adds a whole new level of recovery for child victims to face.

Dana Babbin served as a state prosecutor in Massachusetts for a decade, spending most of her career as an Internet Crimes Against Children Prosecutor (or, “ICAC” Prosecutor), handling not only the prosecution of child pornography cases, but vast amounts of outreach and training, both locally and nationally, for state and federal organizations. Dana now runs Cadence Consulting (callcadence.com). As a legal consultant, she continues to provide outreach and training, primarily to judges, police academies, prosecutors, digital evidence examiners, digital evidence labs, and school personnel. She also designs and drafts digital evidence lab protocol. Finally, Dana is the Legal Consultant for the Legal Committee of the National ICAC Program, a division of the Department of Justice. In addition to her legal consulting business, Dana founded Pink Truck® (pinktruckdesigns.com), a new apparel brand aimed at supporting the authenticity of kids. Dana proudly serves on the Board of Directors of Catholic Memorial School, an all-boys middle school and high school in Boston. At home, Dana and her husband (a Massachusetts State Police detective) enjoy spending time with their three girls.
